Welcome to Wyoming

Crossing the state line

Shyla and I had a long 29 miles ahead of us so we set off early, just after 8am. Today was our last day in Colorado. We spend most of the day following along a creek and intersecting and temporarily overlapping with rugged dirt roads. Shyla was feeling good and moving out well; it was nice to have her feeling herself again, and I was thankful for Krista's good work!

In the early afternoon we had some volatile thunderstorms pass overhead dumping a mix of rain and hail on us. The storms were mercifully short and only lasted about 10 to 15 minutes so Shyla and I would wait them out under some trees. In the late afternoon we reached the Wyoming border. I swear the moment we crossed that state line the trail went from well maintained to overgrown and littered with fallen trees. The downfalls were all small and easy to step over but it made navigating a bit challenging. Thankfully my mom had camp set up just 5 miles from the state line so we got to her relatively quickly just as some more dark thunderheads rolled in.

A rainy welcome to Wyoming
