I had one more day's ride to return to Keene's horse camp and the waiting truck and trailer, and the trail itself was uneventful. But once we got to the camp and tried to drive north, we found that the dirt road to Highway 12 was blocked. So we had to backtrack and take a different dirt road for a long 30 mile detour all the way to Packwood, then drive back to White Pass to camp. We also got lucky in terms of the weather; the day began with sun, but as it progressed into afternoon and then evening, the clouds got thicker overhead, and I knew it was only a matter of time before it started raining. Thankfully I got lucky enough to get to the trailer before it started, so even though we had a long, difficult detour, we at least were dry when we loaded up and pulled out from Keene's.
