Today was our last day on this section, as we rode past Mt. Lassen and into Hat Creek to meet Pam Williams at the trailhead. The mosquitoes were swarming and bloodthirsty this morning as I packed up my camp before hitting the trail. I try to keep the horses--and myself--as protected as possible against the little vampires, but it's almost impossible sometimes.

Early in the day, soon after we packed up and hit the trail, we rode past the beautiful Twin Lakes.

After that, the trail was very rocky and narrow at times. I was extremely grateful when we got to the trailhead and Pam was already there, waiting to welcome us!
