Donomore Meadow

Shyla grazing in Donomore Meadow

In the morning Shyla was feeling a lot better, but I thought that perhaps I would try to avoid some of the many downfalls we were struggling with by staying on a dirt fire road that parallels the PCT for some of the way today as we rode to Donomore Meadow. This has to be one of my favorite places to camp along the PCT, with huge sweeping green meadows where there are often herds of elk. Shyla eagerly buried her head in the grass when we got there and grazed to her heart's content. But the dirt road turned out not to be a walk in the park; there are so many downed trees that even it was made almost impassable at times (and certainly I would not have gotten through if I'd been in a truck instead of on a horse).
