For my first full day in Wyoming, Takoda and I were to travel 26 miles. We were mostly working our way out of the mountains and losing elevation as we traveled down to the basin. Our day could be summarized as lots of downfalls and wrong turns. I got us turned around three times, usually realizing my error after we were about a mile off course. Using my gps I would then reorient and essentially make a bee line to the trail leading Takoda cross country over even more fallen trees and steep slopes. Thanks to the wonders of modern technology, and certainly not my own sense of direction, we managed to reach my mother and Shyla at Deep Jack Trailhead before 7pm.
