Cumbres Pass

Shyla looking north towards Cumbres Pass

I finished the second leg of my overnight section and arrived back at Cumbres Pass again, where my mother was waiting with the camper (and she didn’t have to hike out to meet me this time!). I only had about 21 miles to cover today, and the trail was relatively easy, despite being rocky in the beginning. It's a good thing the trail wasn't too challenging, as I was still recovering from being ill, and I couldn't keep down the breakfast I tried to eat. I was happy to arrive in camp by 4:30 in the afternoon, which is very early for me to be done with a day's ride. In fact, under other circumstances we might have tried to drive north to our next location that evening, but I felt that staying put and getting a good night's sleep would be the best medicine for me, and that's what we did.
