After letting Shyla rest for a couple of days, I picked up again where we left off at Bouquet Canyon Rd. We had only a short section of trail to ride between Bouquet Canyon and San Francisquito Rd., where there is a fire closure of part of the PCT. The area is still recovering from the damage of a previous fire, and there is a road walk through part of the Leona Valley and the area around Elizabeth Lake in order to get back onto the trail on the other side of the closure. I set off with Shyla and Takoda late in the afternoon, but we were traveling light and quick because we didn't have to camp on the trail; we were staying for the night with Dee Ritterbusch at Bouquet Ridge Ranch where she has a wonderful retirement and lay-up facility practically right next to the PCT. She graciously let us park our camper there and bed down the horses in her barn for the night. And long the way, as the sun was getting low in the sky, we stopped to admire the view of Bouquet Canyon reservoir from a hill overlooking the canyon.
