Today I left Ebbetts Pass and headed through the beautiful Blue Lakes area on my way to Carson Pass. There were some little leftover patches of snow in spots, but the trail was basically clear and passable.
We stopped at one point for lunch, and the horses took advantage of the break to graze, although there wasn't much in the way of grass for them to munch on.
A little ways south of Carson Pass we met up again with Alina and Bub, who rode with us and camped for the night. We had such a great time doing this over the 4th of July that we wanted to take advantage of the opportunity again while I was still nearby to Sacramento.
