Not wanting to overly stress Shyla after her Gray's Peak encounter, it was Takoda’s turn for the trail again. But at least it was not a long day, about 23 miles. I rode out of Troublesome Pass fairly late as I let myself sleep in after our late arrival the night before. Not surprisingly, Takoda and I spent the first several miles hopping over downfalls that Shyla and I had been lucky enough to avoid, but thankfully after that the downfalls ended and the trail opened up. After 12 miles, the trail followed a dirt road for the rest of the day, and we met mom camped on a hill just off the highway, getting in well before sunset.
